Aerial view of burned trees and scorched ground remain after wildfires swept through parts of Puszcza Solska near Bilgoraj, Poland, on May 14, 2026. Wildfires that started at the beginning of May in Puszcza Solska have damaged 1,157 hectares of forest in southeastern Poland, threatening local ecosystems and requiring extensive firefighting operations during periods of drought and unusual spring heat. The local forest district administration of National Forests says that large parts of these forests will need to be cut and replaced.
