Burned trees and scorched ground remain after wildfires swept through parts of Puszcza Solska near Bilgoraj, Poland, on May 14, 2026. The fires, which began at the start of May, have damaged 1,157 hectares of forest, threatening local ecosystems and necessitating extensive firefighting efforts amid drought and unusual spring heat. The local forest district administration indicates that large sections of the forest will need to be cut and replaced.
