This moon marks the peak of spring with abundant blooming flowers and is also known as Buddha Purnima or Vesak, a sacred day in Buddhism commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing (Mahaparinirvana) of Gautama Buddha. It is referred to by indigenous names such as the Budding Moon, Frog Moon, or Planting Moon. Occasionally, scattered black clouds drift in and obscure the moon.
