First member Polish Global Sumud Flotilla returns to Poland

Lukasz Kozak, a member of the Polish Global Sumud Flotilla arrives at Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Poland on 22 May, 2026. Lukasz was welcomed by supporters at Choping Airport after having been held captive by Israeli forces for several days with other flotilla members who were on their way to provide aid to Gaza via boat. ATTENTION: One second of blank space has been inserted between quotes QUOTE 01 (Lukasz Kozak, returned flotilla member, Polish): "This is a small fragment of what the Israelis do every day to the Palestinians in the occupied territories in Gaza." QUOTE 02 (Rafal Piotrowski, spokesperson flotilla, English): "How can we feel safe when the Israeli regime can kidnap Polish citizens from international waters and there's like two hours, two days before any reaction from the MFA? That's not enough. We demand sanctions. We demand embargo on Israel. The blockade needs to be broken. Palestine must be free." QUOTE 03 (Rafal Piotrowski, spokesperson flotilla, English): "Well, definitely we're going to evaluate this mission, but to be better prepared for the next one. We're not going to be scared by Israel because we cannot live in a world when genocide is normalized."
