Blue moon - Micromoon - The second full moon of May

An extremely rare "Blue Micromoon" is visible through the vegetation, coconut leaves, and scattered clouds in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on May 31, 2026. This is the second full moon of May (a calendar Blue Moon), coinciding with a micromoon, as the moon is at its farthest point from Earth in its orbit for the entire year. As a result, the moon appears slightly smaller and dimmer than the average full moon. Blue Moons occur approximately every two to three years, and this is the only one in 2026; the next is expected in 2029. Occasionally, clouds drift across the moon, making the lunar corona sometimes visible and forming various patterns.
