The *Aedes aegypti* mosquito is one of the world’s most significant disease vectors and the primary transmitter of major arboviruses, including dengue fever, yellow fever, chikungunya, and Zika. Thriving in urban environments and feeding exclusively on human blood, it poses a severe public health threat globally. These mosquitoes are identifiable by the distinct white markings on their legs. The illnesses they carry share common symptoms, such as fever, rash, and joint or muscle pain. Recently, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, sought approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to release up to 32 million sterile male *Aedes aegypti* mosquitoes in California and Florida to combat disease.
