Motorists on the Trans-Sulawesi Highway in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, were observed feeding the endangered Sulawesi crested macaque on Saturday (July 11, 2026). The population of this protected species has drastically declined due to poaching and changes in their foraging behavior, as reported by the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency and the IUCN.
