Indian soldier bunker - Old Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple - The Himalaya - Temple in Sikkim - Indian Army

The Old Baba Mandir (or Adi Baba Mandir) or Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, located at an elevation of over 13,000 ft near Nathu La, near the India-China border in East Sikkim, is a highly revered shrine dedicated to the late Indian soldier or Sepoy Harbhajan Singh of the 23rd Regiment. Singh died in 1968 near Nathu La in Sikkim, India, after falling into a nullah while escorting a mule column from Tuku La to Dongchui La. Constructed at the original site of his bunker near Tukla La, it is sacred to the Indian Army and locals, who believe his "ghost" or "spirit" of Harbhajan Singh, who is revered as a "saint," still guards the Sikkim border and protects soldiers in the treacherous Himalayas. Baba Harbhajan Singh is the only soldier whom the Indian Army worships as a deity after he died in "On Duty" Status. This video of Baba Harbhajan Singh's real, very narrow bunker, which was converted into a temple, surrounded by snow and the Himalaya's snowcapped mountains, was taken in Phadamchen, Sikkim, India, on April 17, 2026.
