Giant Mosquito Looks Like Crane Fly

A crane fly, often called 'mosquito hawks' or 'skeeter eaters,' is seen on a bow, trying to eat the leftover fruit juice clinging to the rim of the bowl in a house in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on March 14, 2026. Crane flies are harmless insects from the Tipulidae family observed during the rainy season. Despite their appearance, they do not bite, feed on blood, or carry diseases. Adult crane flies do not have the piercing mouthparts mosquitoes use. They live only for a few days to mate and sometimes sip nectar, but mostly don't eat at all.
