Burned trees and scorched ground are seen after wildfires swept through parts of Solska Wilderness near Bilgoraj, Poland, on July 16, 2026. Wildfires that started at the beginning of May in Solska Wilderness have damaged 1157 hectares of forest in southeastern Poland, threatening local ecosystems and requiring extensive firefighting operations during periods of drought and unusual spring heat. The local forest district administration of National Forests classified three zones of burned forest, of which part is destined to be cut and recultivated, whereas other zones will be monitored to allow natural regeneration of the tree stand.
