The green jewel bug is a brightly colored insect belonging to the family Scutelleridae that features a shiny, metallic green shell decorated with distinct black spots and possesses an enlarged thorax part that completely covers its wings and abdomen. It feeds on plant juices across South and Southeast Asian countries like India and China using piercing-sucking mouthparts to drink sap from important economic plants like litchi, longan, pigeon pea, and millets.
