Resi border between West Bengal and Sikkim - Rishikhola River

Houses hanging over Himalayan River gorges beside the Rishi River in Sikkim are seen from Aritar, India, on April 16, 2026. Resi (also spelled Ressi or Rishi) is a vital border checkpoint and village located on the boundary between West Bengal and Sikkim state, near the Pedong area in the Kalimpong district. It sits at an altitude of 2,000 feet along the Rishi River (Rishikhola), which acts as a natural dividing line between the two states. Situated close to Pedong, it serves as a transit point between West Bengal's hill regions and East Sikkim's Rhenock and Aritar areas.
