Cell sites, or cell communications towers (cellular network base stations), enable mobile communication by featuring multiple antennas that transmit and receive signals from mobile devices within their coverage area. In India, the Government body, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), oversees cell sites and mobile towers. This telecommunications infrastructure is installed on ground towers or rooftops to provide wireless network coverage that supports various mobile technologies, including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and newer generations, by using radio waves to connect devices to the broader network.
