Local residents stand atop massive deposits of river silt, rocks, and mud that have buried the lower two stories of a multi-story concrete building along the banks of the Trishuli River in Trishuli, Nuwakot District, Nepal, on August 31, 2026. Catastrophic flash floods and debris avalanches triggered by an upstream glacial collapse on Langtang Lirung devastated the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi river basins, elevating riverbed levels and causing extensive structural damage to riverside properties throughout central Nepal.
