Marae Anini - Ancient Polynesian Temple and Archaeological Site - 05/13/2026

A shrine adorned with seashells is located at Marae Anini on the southern tip of Huahine Iti in French Polynesia, on May 13, 2026. Marae Anini is an ancient Polynesian ceremonial site built from massive blocks of coral along the shoreline situated directly beside Anini Beach in the village of Parea, offering calm, reef-protected waters. Marae Anini served as a community marae (sacred temple) dedicated to traditional deities, including 'Oro (the god of war) and Hiro (the god of thieves and sailors).
