A comprehensive selection of rare works preserved in the centuries-old collection of the Izmir National Library is presented to visitors for the first time. Prepared in collaboration with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Izmir National Library, the exhibition "In Search of Documentary Heritage: Rare Works of Izmir" opens at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center. Sixty-one rare works, specially selected from the Izmir National Library collection, take visitors on a cultural journey spanning centuries. The selection includes 26 manuscripts, 2 lithographs, and 33 printed books. Among the prominent works in the exhibition is Enverî's Düstûrnâme-i Enverî, written in verse form between 1464-1465, considered one of the oldest and most valuable sources of Turkish culture and Ottoman history. A manuscript copy of this work is also located in the French National Library. The exhibition also features a copy of Kâtip Çelebi's Cihannüma, one of the important works of Turkish geographical literature, printed in 1732 at the Ibrahim Müteferrika Printing House; Aristotle's Collected Works, printed in Latin in 1531 using Gutenberg's movable metal type printing technique; and a rare handwritten copy of the Quran by Hasan Âsikî. in Izmir, Turkey, on September 22, 2026.
