Tripsacum dactyloides, or eastern gamagrass, is a warm-season, sod-forming grass found in sunny, moist areas from the eastern United States to northern South America. It thrives near watercourses and wet prairies and adapts well to disturbed environments. It provides rich protein and high biomass yields for cows, buffaloes, and goats, and is cultivated in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on August 26, 2026.
