A widely attended animal rights protest is organized to mark October 4, World Animal Day. Life Rights Advocates in Izmir, the Izmir Bar Association, the Workers' Party of Turkey, and various non-governmental organizations come together to protest the new law regarding stray animals. Following the march, the participants make a press statement and form a human chain by lining up with banners. In their joint statement, it is emphasized that the animals in the country are not alone, declaring, "We want a new law that protects rather than collects, sustains life rather than confines, and is based on life rather than killing."
