Artisans put the finishing touches on idols of Goddess Durga ahead of Durga Puja, which begins on the fifth lunar day of the bright fortnight in Ashwin, in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on October 15, 2026. Their children play nearby, wandering among the idols accompanied by pets, including a rabbit. Various rural puja committees arrive with large vehicles to collect the Durga idols, accompanied by traditional hand-held percussion instruments, known as folk drums. Members of the puja committees, along with some people from the artists' team, carefully load the heavy idols onto the vehicles. Once the idols are loaded, the artisans receive final payments from the committees and carefully count Indian rupees.
