Aftermath of Cyclone Amphan in Kolkata

Trams are seen parked at a tram depot in Kolkata during fifth phase of nationwide lockdown as the workers are sitting around the parking premises at eastern Indian city of Kolkata, 2nd June 2020. The transportation of trams has still not been started in Kolkata due to the disruption of electric wires and connectivity by the severe cyclonic storm Amphan on 20th May 2010. The uprooted trees have damaged many trams and tram wires during Amphan. The tram system in the city of Kolkata, operated by West Bengal Transport Corporation after Calcutta Tramways Company was dissolved, is the only tram network operating in India. It started in 1902; it is the second oldest electric tramway in India. On the period COVID19 pandemic though India has eased many restrictions on fifth phase of nationwide lockdown few public transports have been started and few shops are opened accordingly from 1st June 2020.
