Thousands of protesters occupied the I-35W bridge to express outrage over the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police, on May 25, 2020. Shortly after the crowd took to their knees in respect for Mr. Floyd, Bogdan Vechirko, a white man, sped through part of the crowd in a tanker truck before being pulled from the vehicle by protesters and later arrested. Neither any protesters nor the driver were seriously injured during the incident.
