The Russian Health Ministry confirmed on Saturday that the country has begun the production of the COVID-19 vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the world's first registered vaccine against the novel coronavirus, Sputnik V, which is named after the space satellite launched by Moscow in 1957.
