Hindu devotees perform the 'Tarpan' ritual to pay obedience to their ancestors on the last day of Hindu event 'Pitru Paksha' near the Howrah bridge on the banks of the holy Ganges river in Kolkata on September 17, 2020. In Hindu mythology, this day is also called 'Mahalaya' and described as the day when the gods created the ten-armed goddess Durga to destroy the demon king Mahishasura who plotted to drive out the gods from their kingdom.
