Italy hits a new high in daily COVID-19 case 16,079
Italy reported 16,079 more cases of the novel coronavirus, hitting a new daily record for the second consecutive day and raising the country's total to 465,726.
The number of COVID-19-related fatalities grew by 136 from Wednesday's figure, marking the highest daily increase in coronavirus deaths since May 21. Italy's death toll from the virus now stands at 36,968.
