Tihar festival in Nepal

Tihar is a five day long Hindu festival, it is also considered the second biggest festival in Nepal. Makhmali flowers are used to make garland for Brother’s Day (Bhai Tika) which falls on the fifth day of Tihar festival. It is believed that Makhamali never gets wilts and wither. So, sisters offer Makhamali garlands to their brothers on Bhai Tika, wishing them long life, like the flower.
