Dogs of the Sneha Care center are worshiped during the dog worship day as a part of the Tihar festival, in Kathmandu, Nepal on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Nepalese Hindu all across the country are celebrating 'Kukur Tihar' or "day of the dogs"- a festival dedicated to man's best friend, dogs! According to the Hindu mythology dogs are considered as the messenger of Yamraj- God of Death. Therefore, dogs are adorned with flowers garlands, tika (red mark applied on the forehead) and offered treats on this day. Sneha's Care, an animal shelter home established in 2014 to protect the street and community dogs from cruelty, torture and ill usage of any kind marked the festival with a lot of vigour. The shelter home houses more than 150 canines at the moment and have rescued and repatriated more than 10,000 animals till date says Sneha Shrestha, animal advocate and the founder of the Sneha's Care.
