The Chhath festival also known as Surya Puja or worship of Sun , is a Hindu festival observed specially in eastern India by Bihari community , where they worship Sun god at banks of rivers and ponds , praying to bring good health and prosperity to ones family. Authorities announced and ordered strict protocols to be followed during the festival , but no such norms were followed by the devotees as they flock in large numbers to riverbanks of Kolkata.
