The main Christmas tree of Ukraine lit up at St. Sophia's Square, in Kyiv, Ukraine on 19 December 2020. A resonance and discussions in social networks erupted around the "fairy hat", that first was placed on top of the Christmas tree instead of the traditional Bethlehem star. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine reacted negatively to the new look of the main Christmas tree on Sophia Square in Kyiv, on which instead of the traditional Bethlehem star was placed a 'witch's hat', as local media reported on 11 December 2020. The Christmas holiday organizers said that the Christmas theme this time is the Fairy Forest, but in the end, replaced the "fairy hat" with the traditional Bethlehem star on top of the Christmas tree.
