Gangasagar fair is the second biggest congregation of Hindu pilgrims after Kumbh mela. The Gangasagar mela is observed annually on Sagar island.Every year during Makar Sankranti , devotees from all over the country visits sagar island to take a holy dip in the confluence of Ganges and Bay of Bengal and then worshiping at Kapil Muni Ashram at the Island. The temple is highly revered among devotees. This year the fair will be restricted and under strict COVID protocols by the government, the usual crowd would be controlled and restricted to avoid any kind of contamination of the new mutant COVID strain according to Government advisory.
