Truck drivers strike in São Paolo

Tracks on the Castello Branco highway were blocked by truck drivers this Monday morning (1st). Traffic is heavily loaded both towards the interior of São Paulo, Brazil and towards the capital. The possible demonstration by truck drivers was called by the National Association of Autonomous Transport of Brazil (ANTB), which represents at least 4,500 truck drivers, and had the support of other unions. The main motivator of the strike is the increase in the price of diesel, which had a 4.4% increase in refineries at the end of December and is the fuel mostly used by truck drivers. Some walkways have banners against the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB). Meanwhile, the federal highways, granted or under the management of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), had a free flow of vehicles, with no point of total or partial retention, according to a statement from the Ministry of Infrastructure and of the Federal Highway Police.
