Constitutional Tribunal in Poland to rule over applicability EU law

A demonstrator holds an EU flag in front of the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw, Poland on April 28, 2021. Judges of the Constitutional Court on Wednesday came together to consider case P 7/20 in response to a question of law concerning the compatibility with the Polish constitution of an existing EU law. The Constitutional Tribunal will review the applicability of interim measures imposed by the European Court of Justice demanding the suspension of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Polish Supreme Court. The Disciplinary Chamber with its politically appointed judges has been deemed incompatible with EU law and a threat to the independence of the judiciary.
