Japan extends the state of emergency to 12 September

The Japanese government has decided to extend by two weeks, until September 12, the state of emergency in several prefectures of the country due to the spread of the Delta variant of coronavirus. In addition to Tokyo, the 3 adjacent prefectures of Chiba, Kanagawa, and Saitama, that of Osaka, and the island of Okinawa, 7 other prefectures will be added to the list, including Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Shizuoka, Kyoto, Hyogo, and Fukuoka.
