The newly elected German Chancellor Olaf Schulz, the oldest Chancellor to hold the position since Ludwig Erhard in 1963, met with his counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw on December 12, 2021. The two spoke about key issues such as energy and cybersecurity and expressed their common goals in being active partners in the EU. Chancellor Scholz also expressed the importance of healing the wounds of the past and that his visit is a symbolic moment which will lead to a new chapter in Polish-German relations.
