Devil’s Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks At Its Brightness Peak On April 21st

(FILE VIDEO) On April 21st, the comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, approximately 17 kilometers wide, also known as the "Devil's Comet" or "Comet of the Mother of Dragons", will reach its closest point to the sun, known as perihelion, during which it will be about 232 million kilometers from our star. This position should make the comet significantly brighter and easier to see in the western sky just after sunset. However, with a magnitude of about 5.9, it might not be visible to the naked eye. This makes the use of a good telescope, camera, or binoculars indispensable. Observers at northern latitudes may have difficulty seeing the comet because it will be positioned in the twilight. Video shows comets Neowise (2020), Nishimura (2023) and 12P/Pons Brooks captured from Abruzzo, Italy.
