Ukrainians celebrate Vyshyvanka Day wearing traditional embroidered shirt in Athens, Greece on May 22, 2022. The Ukrainian community 'Vorystheni' and 'Ukrainian Women in Greece' organized a celebration as part of the 'Vyshyvanka Day’. Vyshyvanka is the traditional white embroidered shirt, which accompanied the Ukrainians in all the events of their lives (birth, marriage, graduation) but also on their last journey. During the years of captivity in Ukraine, this costume was banned in order to weaken the national identity of the Ukrainian people. This year's celebration of Vyshyvanka Day is especially important as Russian targets Ukraines culture and history as well as its territory and people.
