Despite some rain in the plains and snow in the Alps, the drought situation in Northern Italy is worsening. The Po river has reached new historic lows. At the final measurement in Pontelagoscuro, the river's flow has dropped to 338.38 cubic meters per second (mc/s), which is over 100 cubic meters per second less than the historic minimum for April and well below the 450 mc/s, considered the limit below which the river is defenseless against the rise of the salt wedge.
