Clashes and tear gas in Place de la Nation at 1 May demonstration in Paris

Tough clashes at the 1 May demonstration, with 32 protesters and 259 police injured, according to Interior Ministry figures. Particularly violent were the confrontations between groups of young people and the forces of order at the Place de la Nation where scuffles continued for several hours and where the students chanted slogans against the police and against President Macron while sitting on the ground in front of the advancing police forces..
