The discovery of Yuanzhongdu site was rated as one of the "Top Ten new archaeological Discoveries in China in 1999". In December 2010, the Yuanzhongdu Museum, located in Zhangbei Town, Zhangbei County, was completed. It is the first museum dedicated to the history of Mongolian and Yuan dynasties in China, and the first museum built for a dynasty in China. Yuan Zhong Du was one of the four capitals (Helin, Shangdu, Dadu and Zhongdu) of Mongolian Yuan. From the existing ruins, Yuanzhong is divided into outer city, middle city, inner city, city wall and turret. The history of Yuan Zhong Capital from its establishment to its burning fully reflects the process of Yuan Dynasty from its heyday to its decline. The excavation of a large number of cultural relics has a high research value for the economy, military affairs and character customs of this era.
